tooth fairy bunnies

Hand sewn, customized boy/girl bunnies is such a sweet twist on the traditional tooth pillow.  I really love the idea of making more magic for this already anticipated milestone.  (My elementary best friend and I swore to be tooth fairies when we grew up.  You?)

Have you tried Hand Stitched Felt?  If it can help me create the likes of this, I'm ready to add it to the cart.

p.s. it could be yours:

Do you remember this print available right here?  I bought it.  It was mailed straight from Spain and came quickly.  And I love it and now love Haciendo El Indio too.  But unfortunately, it's too big for the 2 foot shelf that ended up working best for Cole's little space.

Here's my thought: rather than returning it, I thought I would offer it for the exact price I paid: €16 (including shipping) = $22.33 to anyone who loves it too.

[In perfect condition.  Still rolled up.]

We could do a simple & safe paypal transaction.  Email me: delightfulblog@gmail.com

book-marks

briones + co.: Do you collect books too?  And read with a pencil in hand to circle and underline and write your poetry in the margin?  Then, read on: bookmarks that "keep track of the books you want to read, the books you’ve read, and what you thought of them. note the words that you’d like to look up later and never forget your favorite quotes."  I'm dying.

Now to start reading (really reading) again...

inspired: young explorer bedroom

Honestly, you Australians are lucky, lucky.  I have files worth of stores and magazines that I'm dying to have easier access to.  But I digress.  I especially love the lobster cage pendant lamp and that crocheted target cushion!  Inspired.

make walnut boats

made by joel: Do you know Joel?  He's some sort of crafting genius (especially the little boy craft variety) and the walnut boats are my favorite lately.  The best part: they call for typical pantry supplies.  No shopping list!   Ahoy.

woven plant cover

We're working hard on bringing our back yard (read: porch) to life and have big plans for the weekend: snap beans (seeds), carrots (seeds) , peppers, basil, tomatoes, cantaloupe, blackberries and strawberries.  Cucumbers in June.  Sunset and a little Sonoma County gardening guide tell me that these should all work, but of course it will be one giant experiment.  That's exactly why it can't hurt to have a little help, I figure.  Just my luck to find this woven plant cover at terrain to protect my strawberries from the birds.  It almost feels like yard art and I really love it.

Do you have any gardening tips?

q collection junior: I'm really in love this graphic + muted look that q collection junior has created and feel obliged to share that my favorite of their prints on a pillow is now on sale!  19x15 and includes a hypoallergenic down/feather insert.  (That red stool!  Although that would be an awful idea in Finn's room (he's a climber), the look is dreamy.)

the day I left Target really happy.

I love getting lucky!  This solid wood egg-shaped bird feeder is going to hang from our front tree.  It looks like it's been cleared out online but check your local store.  It's a happy find, don't you think?

today, i'm thinking:

*You know those pictures of yourself that just seem so foreign?  This is one of those.  That's me?  2006: just after I had Cole and decided to cut my hair short (again).  A friend just emailed it over..

*I'm suddenly really excited about gardening.  I went to a little class on Thursday and then came home and spent hours on Sunset.  (What to plant; how to plant; when to plant all for where I specifically live.  It's a brilliant resource!)  Our Saturday was buying and preparing our garden plot and today, I researched our veggie and fruit plans.  (I have notes.)  It's thrilling.

*I just ate half of one of those small, seedless watermelons and still need more Sunday snack.  p.s.  I want to grow some.  See above.

*Oh, just created a formspring account.  (←).  I really like questions/answers and figured this is my fun, friendly piece of internet.  Let's try.

which fabric for our lamp shade: yellow circles or ring my bell?

*These are all the pieces of Cole's four-year-old room.  Some en route and some just waiting to fit in.  It's all coming together.

*Do you do long Sunday walks?  I still smell musty from ours.

*I cannot stop listening to Brett Dennen.

*What do you eat when you're craving chocolate?

*My Karen Barbe pillow cover and nice little note came yesterday.  Now, I love her.

Hope you had a great weekend too!

holey

After weeks of rain, we're expecting 68 degrees and sun this afternoon.  Of course the park is in our plans.  So is a weekend of gardening, because that's my latest thing.  Also of course, this means that we'll be getting out our "gardening clothes" to save your typical other clothes from the inevitable little boy & man holes.

["Gardening clothes."  Do you have them too?  The funny thing is that category was born long before we ever had a space to garden.  It probably started when I made an attempt to sort through Brad's wardrobe and 'let him' keep some of the dodgy items "for gardening."]

This is all to say that I loved finding this tutorial from designer friend, Katie.  A cool way to patch jeans. So our "gardening clothes" can be everyday clothes too.  And that means saving pennies which always turns out to be a really good thing.

ana ventura: My living room is bare-walled right now.  Granted, we're only 3 weeks into our new home but my goal has been to start fresh- to really love my space.  The truth: it's sort of driving me crazy.  Clearly good art (on a budget) takes a bit of time to make right, wouldn't you say?

Among a framed family photo, some vases and another (now unknown) print, I think embroidery is the perfect fit.  Variety.  Texture.  Yes.

spring stamp sets

yellow owl workshop: I'm really pretty proud of my small rubber stamp collection and love adding to it.  (It all started when I worked at the great store Black Ink.)  In fact, these sets are so exciting that I'm straining my brain trying to come up with a good reason to buy the badminton kit.

I'm still searching for the perfect Mother's Day gift ideas, but I'll throw this out there for you sewers.  I think I would get weak-kneed opening a box of these!  Amazing.

Colorful, organic art.  They should be part of our home.  Now, to find which shelf they'll fit best!

laundry. simplified.

This is our seventh home during our 6 year marriage, so I know moving and really don't like it.  The boxes and disorganization and upheaval almost break me every time.  But a part of that exhausted post-packing and cleaning me loves the order + organizing that can come with the getting settled.

I've been especially excited about laundry. Although our very first & new washing machine and dryer is motivating(!), I especially love the 2 1/2 gallon glass jar (filled with my new shaklee detergent) and perfect hampers (extra large + sturdy+ sleek) that speak for the value of small improvements.  Clean is a bit thrilling.  So is day dreaming about an indoor laundry room.

haciendo el indio: I can't forget about this print I found earlier this week.  It's perfectly Cole and would suit his new in-progress room.  I can't wait to see how it all comes together.  I'll share when we're done.

shanna murray

shanna murray's shop: It's been making it's rounds this morning because it's lovely.  This is exactly the kind of wall decals I would want in my space and now I have a great ideas for these (now, just storing in our closet).

vale design [via iDIY].  'Tis the season.  Although we're getting more rain than sun, our next project is prettying up our back "yard" (porch) and planting some seeds.  And because Spring is good for wanting flowers, see this as the perfect new spin on the standard thank you or Happy Mother's Day gesture.

Finding the perfect white herb planters this week has become a bit of an obsession.  But it did turn up a couple of treasures.

"okey-dokey"

We had our Super Mario birthday party per Cole's 4 year old request.  It was simple: we ventured to San Francisco's exploratorium with the 3 cousins and grandma who was visiting.  We threw together fun party favors (see above), made box lunches with all the containers (and stripy straws) from Garnish, tried our hands at fondant (which doesn't look too fancy.. but those Ina Garten coconut cupcakes that we make every year- fantastic) and put together homemade party invitations.  Not much of a production but he loved the little details and that makes me happy.
